How to Grow Climbing Rose From Seeds
Simple Steps for Successful Germination & Healthy Growth
Step 1 – Prepare the Seeds
For better germination, place the seeds in a moist paper towel inside a sealed bag and refrigerate them for 6–8 weeks (cold stratification).
Step 2 – Prepare the Pot
Use seed trays or small pots with drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.
Step 3 – Prepare the Soil
Fill the containers with a well-draining seed-starting mix made of cocopeat, compost, and perlite or coarse sand.
Step 4 – Sow the Seeds
Plant each seed about 0.5–1 cm deep and cover lightly with soil. Keep a few centimeters of spacing between seeds.
Step 5 – Water Gently
Mist or water lightly after sowing. Keep the soil consistently moist but never soggy.
Step 6 – Provide Warmth & Light
Place the pots in a bright location with indirect sunlight until germination. After sprouting, gradually introduce 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
Step 7 – Transplant the Seedlings
When the seedlings develop 3–4 true leaves, transplant them into larger pots or a well-prepared garden bed.
Step 8 – Support & Care
Install a trellis, fence, or arbor for climbing. Water regularly, feed with a balanced fertilizer every 3–4 weeks, and prune as needed.
Step 9 – Enjoy the Blooms
With proper care and patience, your climbing roses will develop vigorous vines and reward you with beautiful blooms year after year. 🌹
